FILMTEXT is a digital narrative created for cross-media platforms by Mark Amerika in collaboration with myself and the sound artist Twine. The net.art piece has been exhibited as a museum installation, a net art site, a conceptual art ebook, an mp3 concept album, a series of live performances, and a looping DVD. The initial 1.0 iteration of the net art site was commissioned by Playstation 2 in conjunction with Amerika's "How To Be An Internet Artist" net art retrospective at the ICA in London. FILMTEXT 2.0, released in late July as part of the international SIGGRAPH exhibition in San Antonio, Texas, will continue to investigate the interrelationship between net art, hypermedia narrative and interactive cinema.

"FILMTEXT invites the interactive-participant to layer soundtracks, launch dream movies, and to "read" a film/text about what it means to be human in a post-apocalyptic culture. Featuring the narrative images and text of Mark Amerika, the Flash art of John Vega, and the sound art of Twine, this new version of FILMTEXT has eight levels, all of them tracing the nomadic movement of an alien lightform known only as The Digital Thoughtographer."
